The candidate must obey the rules of the road and the examiner. If the driver disobeys or does not understand the examiner’s instructions, the examiner will fail the driver. A road test is usually done in one of the following weather conditions: sunny weather, bad weather, or poor visibility, such as during the night or in the rain. If the driver makes a mistake, the examiner will tell the driver to back up. The examiner will then explain what the driver did wrong. The examiner will also tell the driver to drive on. The examiner will usually tell the driver when to turn left at an intersection. The examiner will tell the driver to stop if the driver does any of the following:

• Fails to stop at a stop sign.

• Fails to yield to a pedestrian.

• Goes through a red light.

• Drives in the wrong lane or goes the wrong way.

• Fails to obey the rules of the road (traffic signs, traffic signals and lane markings).

• Does not follow the examiner’s instructions.
